How to remove a rim protector
A protector comes off the way it went on. The three groups in this shop do not all come off the same way. Once you know which piece you have, the Amazon listing is the page with the steps for that product.
Adhesive strip
This is the peel-and-stick kind. Peel the trim off the outer lip. Some of the glue can stay on the wheel after the strip is gone. That film is residue from the adhesive, not a new layer of the rim. How to clean it is on the listing. Nothing here promises the lip will look the way it did before the strip went on.
Clip-in ring
A clip-in ring snaps over the rim edge and does not use glue. It comes off by unclipping it from that edge. Wheels with the same inch size are not all shaped the same. If it does not lift off easily, check the listing photos against your wheel instead of forcing it.
Pro-fit insert
A pro-fit ring sits between the tire bead and the rim. The AlloyGator listings in this shop say the tire is let down so the ring can go in. Taking it out means working in that same spot, so read the listing before you start. A lot of people have a shop do that job.
