How to install a rim protector
General information only. Not a promise that a protector fits, is safe, or is in stock. Prices and stock change.
Most of the protectors here fall into one of three groups, and the group is a decent hint for how the piece goes on. Once you open a listing, the Amazon page is the place with the directions for that product.
Adhesive strip
This is the peel-and-stick kind. Clean the outer lip of the wheel, then press the trim onto that edge. The listing tells you what to clean with, and whether to wait before you drive.
Clip-in ring
A clip-in ring snaps over the rim edge. There is no glue. An inch size in the title is the size the seller wrote down. Wheels of the same diameter are not all shaped the same, so compare that wording and the photos with your wheel on Amazon before you order.
Pro-fit insert
A pro-fit ring sits between the tire bead and the rim, which is why a lot of people have a shop put it on. The AlloyGator listings in this shop say the tire is let down so the ring can go in. If you are looking at another brand, follow the directions on that listing.
