Do rim protectors fit 20 to 22 inch wheels?

20, 21, and 22 are wheel diameters. They are the inch number on the tire, not the sidewall ratio beside it. Makers don't all stop at the same inch, and a number inside a published range is not a fit check for your rim.

What range does AlloyGator publish?

As of Oct 20, 2026, AlloyGator's French size page says the ring fits alloy wheels from 12 to 24 inches. That page sorts 18 to 20 inch wheels with SUVs and sport cars, and 21 to 24 inch wheels with premium and tuning cars.

Those groups are how the page is laid out. They are not a list of cars, and they don't say every 21 inch wheel takes the ring. The same page says the ring is for aluminum wheels, not steel, and that a few protruding rims need a separate check. The kit includes a test tab, 60 mm by 15 mm. You slide the green end between the tire and the rim edge. Green still visible, or only as far as the black line, is their compatible mark. If the edge reaches the red, they say it is not compatible. They name the Model 3 Performance Überturbine as one of those protruding rims. That check is written up in rim protectors for a Model Y or Model 3.

Their UK fitting page starts with the suitability gauge, then the size printed on the sidewall. The install lets the air out and taps the ring in with a mallet. A 20, 21, or 22 inch tire still follows that order. The diameter doesn't replace the gauge.

Does Rim Ringz make a 21 or 22 inch ring?

As of Oct 20, 2026, the Rim Ringz set page lists 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 inch. It doesn't list 21 or 22.

On June 22, 2019, Rim Ringz replied to Jesse on that page. They wrote that they do not have a 21 inch ring, and that 20 inch is the biggest size. On May 6, 2019, Tezzie wrote on Tesla Motors Club that Rim Ringz doesn't come in 21 inch. The product page says the rings attach to the edge of an alloy wheel, that each size is made for that rim size, and that you don't use glue. A 20 inch ring is the top of the list they publish. A 21 or 22 inch wheel is outside that list.

Their install page says to check the wheels and tires table before you start, to let the air out, and to press the hooks by hand. It also says they sell different sizes when the front and rear diameters differ. That is a sized ring, not a length you cut. What about a strip you cut to length?

All-Fit's install page says 25 feet of trim is enough for four 24 inch wheels, and that you cut the trim to the rim.

You wash and dry the wheel, wipe it with alcohol, wait 3 to 5 minutes after the promoter, and press the trim on. They say to wait at least 24 hours before you wash or drive. A cut length can land on a 20, 21, or 22 inch wheel because you trim it. It is not a ring molded as 21 inch or 22 inch. What did an owner report on a 21 inch wheel?

On Tesla Motors Club, VI3IRA wrote about red Original AlloyGators on a Model S with 21 inch rims. After a curb hit, they wrote that the AlloyGator took the damage, with just a tiny scratch below.

That is one owner, on one car, after one hit. It is not a fit check for every 21 inch wheel, and it is not a result we measured. A 22 inch wheel is a different diameter again. Read the inch number on your tire, then match it to the size the maker or the listing actually names.
