AlloyGator, Rimblades, or All-Fit?
These three are not the same part. AlloyGator is a ring in the gap between the tire and the rim. Rimblades and All-Fit are strips that stick to the outer edge. The steps below are theirs. We didn't install any of them.
How does AlloyGator go on?
Their UK fitting page starts with the suitability gauge and the size printed on the sidewall. You jack the car until the wheel is clear, fully deflate the tire, and seat stainless clips for that size. From the valve, you tap the tab end between the rim and the tire with a mallet, work around until the ring overlaps, cut the extra, glue the locking teeth, and seat it. They want no more than a 1 mm gap between the ring and the wheel, and no gap between the ring and the tire. Check the pressures an hour later, then on the schedule in the handbook.
The French compatibility page limits that ring to aluminum wheels from 12 to 24 inches, not steel. A few protruding rims, including the Model 3 Performance Überturbine, need the test tab first. A shorter contrast with stick-on strips is Clip-in or a stick-on rim protector?
How do Rimblades go on?
Rimblades Original is the adhesive strip. The fitting page says the tape reaches a usable bond within 24 hours and fully cures in about 72 hours. You clean off tyre shine, silicone, and brake-dust coatings, wipe with the supplied IPA wipe, apply adhesion promoter, and wait 5 minutes. The promoter stays useful for up to 20 minutes. Then you peel, stick, overlap, mark, and cut. Firm pressure matters because the tape is pressure-sensitive. They don't recommend the strips on ceramic-coated wheels unless the coating is removed. Fresh paint should cure for at least a week before the strips go on.
The same page says Rimfinity is different: pro install only, and it doesn't use that adhesive. Their news page on Rimblades Original also says to allow 24 hours before driving over 40 mph.
How does All-Fit go on?
All-Fit's install page says one Rim Trim kit includes 25 feet of trim, enough for four 24 inch wheels, one alcohol wipe per two wheels, two packs of adhesive promoter, clear gap strips, a glove, and instructions. Wash the wheels and let them dry. Wipe the edge with the alcohol wipe. Put the promoter on with the glove, a thin coat the width of the trim, and wait 3 to 5 minutes until it is tacky. Peel, press, trim the ends so they meet, press again, and add a clear gap strip at the joint. Wait at least 24 hours before you wash or drive. They say the adhesive needs that pressure to bond.
On Tesla Motors Club, Asad1087 compared the two ideas on a Model 3. He had AlloyGators installed and wrote that he liked them more than RimBlades, because he didn't want adhesive to clean off later. That is his preference after one install. It isn't a comparison we ran.
